The Adopt-a-Block litter control program is one way that volunteers give back and help improve Oakland’s streets as we work together to make it a more livable community.
Adopt-a-Block teams adopt designated routes in every part of Oakland and organize clean-up events to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming neighborhood for all residents and visitors. Team members develop familiarity and a sense of ownership over their routes and assist OPDC staff to identify and address neighborhood quality of life issues.
Volunteer to Adopt-a-Block
Adopt-a-Block clean-ups occur every third Saturday of the month from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
We provide the supplies! You just need to register yourself or your organization ahead of time and show up! OPDC tracks volunteer hours across all events and will gladly produce testimonial letters for individuals or organizations that participate. You can pick up and return supplies, equipment, and forms during office hours on the Thursday before our monthly Adopt-a-Block events, or we can coordinate supplies the day of the event.
