The Adopt-a-Block litter control program is one way that volunteers give back and help improve Oakland’s streets as we work together to make it a more livable community.

Adopt-a-Block teams adopt designated routes in every part of Oakland and organize clean-up events to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming neighborhood for all residents and visitors. Team members develop familiarity and a sense of ownership over their routes and assist OPDC staff to identify and address neighborhood quality of life issues.

Volunteer to Adopt-a-Block

Adopt-a-Block teams will organize clean-up events based on their team members’ schedules. Events occur as frequently as teams deem necessary based on their route conditions.

We supply the necessary supplies, you just need to show up! OPDC tracks volunteer hours across all events and will gladly produce testimonial letters for individuals or organizations that participate.
