Khūrākī: A series of Cultural/ Culinary/ Live-Art Events

  • The Union Project 801 North Negley Avenue Pittsburgh, PA, 15206 United States (map)

“Khūrākī”, created by artist Molly Rice in collaboration with a group of recently resettled Afghan refugees in Pittsburgh, is a series of four live cultural events. Commissioned by the Office of Public Art and produced by RealTime Interventions, Khūrākī is supported by Pittsburgh’s refugee resettlement community and many other partners. The series will celebrate the beauty of Afghan culture, music, and food through "theatrical portraits" of five strong women who will forever be Afghan but have recently become Pittsburghers as well. The events include:

Program 1: New Year (March 23, 2019 and April 6, 2019)

Program 2: Change and Permanence (April 22, 2019 and May 6, 2019)

Reserve tickets here: https://www.artful.ly/real-time-interventions. Audiences are limited to 50 per night. Admission is free, but a $20 donation is suggested.

A limited number of tickets will be reserved for residents of each neighborhood in which Khūrākī takes place. To reserve these seats, contact RealTime directly at realtimeinterventions@gmail.com with “Neighborhood Tickets” as the subject line.
