Garbage Olympics

Announcing the fourth annual Pittsburgh Garbage Olympics!

Saturday, September 26, neighborhoods all across Pittsburgh will participate in a glorious competition to see who can get the most litter, debris, and garbage off our beloved city streets!

Each neighborhood will be organized into teams, and team captains will report the results from the 2 hour cleanup to the Clean Pittsburgh Commission for final scores and judging.

As much as we would love to see our Olympians gather together for celebrating a job well done, this year to keep everybody safe from the pandemic, we are foregoing the after-party to adhere to social distancing standards, and instead, putting those funds toward more supplies and PPE for volunteers. The winning champions of the Olympics will be shared with all participants via Facebook Live that same day.

To join the Oakland team, please email Andrea Boykowycz at aboykowycz@opdc.org.

OPDC is also currently looking for people interested in forming groups to maintain Adopt-a-Block routes throughout the year. Routes can be found here. For more information on Adopt-a-Block, please email Emelia Sargent at EES87@pitt.edu.
