Let's Talk: Inclusionary Zoning

  • via Zoom and Facebook LIVE (map)

Thanks to everyone who joined us on December 15! It was instructive to hear from Dave Breignan, executive director of Lawrenceville United, about the success Lawrenceville has had with inclusionary zoning, and we’re grateful to Randy Sargent of South Oakland Neighborhood Group for adding an Oakland perspective on the impacts of gentrification and displacement. The recording and notes are linked below.

The Planning Commission will be reviewing the proposed expansion of the Inclusionary Zoning Overlay district to include Bloomfield and Polish Hill on January 11 at 2:00 p.m. Learn more one the Engage Pittsburgh webpage

That Planning Commission meeting will also feature a hearing on the proposed Oakland Public Realm Sub-district E, which notably does not include any IZ or affordability components. You can read all about that bill (and learn more about how to testify at the Planning Commission) here.

Let’s keep the conversation going; what are your thoughts about the affordability crisis in Oakland?
