The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police sponsors the opportunity for residents and 10th-12th grade students to learn more about the roles and responsibilities of our city’s police officers. Join instructors from Pittsburgh’s Police Academy to experience real law enforcement training.
The Pittsburgh Citizen’s Police Academy is a 15 week program throughout which participants receive three hours of training one evening per week. Officers teach the basics of criminal law, search and seizure, patrol tactics, firearms, and other highlights from police trainings. Register by February 2, 2018. The Student Police Academy is a 10 week program that offers 10th-12th grade students the opportunity to walk in the shoes of Pittsburgh’s police officers. Participants will be introduced to patrol tactics, firearm safety, crime scene investigations, emergency response, SWAT and K-9 units, use of force, and search and seizure. Register by March 9, 2018.
