COVID Precautions - OPDC Offices remain open, upcoming public meetings canceled

Oakland Planning and Development Corporation
Public Health Safety Precautions During the COVID-19 Pandemic

OPDC is committed to the health and safety of our staff and community.  Our offices remain open to serve our community, participants, and students. We have enhanced our cleaning procedures, made hand washing a requirement upon entering offices, and ensure that employees remain at home as necessary in the event of illness.

We recommend that everyone in the community follow the CDC’s guidelines to limit the potential spread of this disease.  This includes frequent hand washing, covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, and refraining from visiting if you are unwell or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Until further notice, all public meetings with the potential to attract more than 25 attendees will be canceled. Thus, we will not hold the March Oakland-wide community meeting nor the March Oakwatch meeting. We keep our website updated with information regarding news, plans, and issues of concern; feedback forms will be provided on the website for members of the community to use in providing input. Please call our office at 412-621-7863 x17 or email questions@opdc.org if you have questions. Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay in touch about latest news and subscribe to our e-newsletter via www.opdc.org

Our Financial Opportunity Center and School 2 Career/Future Makers will remain open to serve participants and clients.  All common areas, computers, doorknobs and other regularly-touched surfaces at the Oakland Career Center will be disinfected on a daily and as-needed basis.

Whenever possible, FOC staff will arrange for client meetings, training sessions, and workshops to be conducted via telephone, video chat, group conferencing, and remote classroom facilities; information about these accommodations will be available as needed.

All visitors to the Career Center are asked to please exercise the following precautions:

  • If you or a family member feels sick in any way, PLEASE STAY HOME.

  • When entering the Oakland Career Center, please immediately go to the restroom to wash your hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. A restroom will be left propped open on the main floor for this purpose; School 2 Career students can use the bathrooms on the lower level.

  • Wash your hands before and after eating.

  • Avoid touching your face, especially eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Try to keep physical contact with others to a minimum and avoid shaking hands whenever possible.  Our staff will make certain students and community members are distanced from any physical contact.
