Receive financial assistance for critical home repairs

OPDC is excited to offer two new home repair programs. Oakland homeowners may be eligible for financial assistance for critical home repairs through these community initiatives:

Homeowner Assistance Program

Homeowners at or below 50% of the area median income are eligible to receive up to $30,000 for interior and exterior home repairs as a grant or deferred 0% interest loan. See the chart below for income qualifications. Funding is provided through the City of Pittsburgh Housing Opportunity Fund.

Oakland Façade Grant Program (for Oakland residents only)

Oakland homeowners at or below 120% of the area median income are eligible to receive grants of up to $5,000 for exterior façade renovations. No match is required. See the chart below for income qualifications. Funding is provided through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Keystone Communities Program.

To be eligible for either program, homeowners must:

  • Own and occupy their home as their primary residence

  • Be current on their property taxes or on a tax payment plan

  • Have current homeowners insurance

  • Income qualify (see specific guidelines below)
