The 250,000 sq. ft. Arena and Sports Performance Center (ASPC) facility will replace/expand most of the sports and functions in the existing Fitzgerald Field House in a new stand-alone facility.
The ASPC will be a hub for sports medicine, athletic training and strength and conditioning as well as a practice and competition venue for wrestling, volleyball, gymnastics, and cheer/dance/mascot. A prominent feature of the ASPC will be a 2,500-seat arena.
The ASPC along with the Peterson Events Center serve as the southern gateway for Victory Heights, the $250 million athletic facilities project that was announced in January 2020.
The building is located on the former site of Pitt Football Stadium (the “bowl” site) adjacent to the Petersen Events Center.
