This project in the Central Oakland neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh will replace portions of water mains on several streets, providing more reliable water service to customers.
Updates
April 25, 2023: Chesterfield will be closed to put back the bricks and pour new sidewalks and curbs from the end of May until the end of August. See PWSA’s letter for more details.
February 27, 2023:
Chesterfield Road—service line replacement is largely done and site will sit until it is warm enough to restore the street and sidewalks.
McKee Place—retiring the old water main, restoration in spring.
Oakland Avenue—restoration in spring.
Pier Street—installing a couple storm drains and manholes, restoration in spring.
Coltart Street - installing a couple storm drains and manholes, restoration in spring.
Ophelia Street – most construction work is still ongoing here, although it’s not a long stretch of road so it won’t take long. Water main is installed, service line work will take place over month of February.
Whitney Street – similar timeline to Ophelia Street.
Parkview Avenue – Installing a couple storm drains and manholes, restoration in spring.
December 2021: Work is complete on Oakland Avenue, Pier Street, and Coltart Avenue. Work remains to be done/completed on McKee Place, Chesterfield Road, and Ophelia Street. According to the PWSA project page, the project is now planned for completion in the summer of 2022.
August 24, 2021: Oakland work is expected to begin in mid-September.
